CANDIDATE STATEMENT

I think that I should be considered for the role of a Welsh Youth Parliament Member due to the strong opinions I have on education, and my belief that everybody deserves the opportunity to have access to the facilities that they need to succeed in life.
As a former Green Team vice chair, I'm very passionate about looking after the environment and the importance of spreading awareness. Mental health is a subject that isn't talked about enough. I have a relative of a similar age who is struggling and I feel like there should be more places where people have access to support.
I would make sure that voices are heard by firstly holding meetings to explain my role and how I can help, while giving students the chance to discuss their concerns. I would then give people the opportunity to speak to me privately if necessary. This year, I have been elected as year council in school by my fellow peers, this shows that they trust me to discuss issues on their behalf.

Mae aelod o fy nheulu sydd o oed tebyg i mi yn ei chael hi’n anodd, a dw i’n teimlo dylen ni gael mwy o leoedd lle mae pobl yn gallu mynd i gael cymorth.
Dw i’n bwriadu gwneud yn siŵr bod lleisiau’n cael eu clywed drwy drefnu cyfarfodydd i egluro fy rôl a sut bydda’ i’n gallu helpu, a rhoi cyfle i ddisgyblion drafod eu pryderon. Bydden i’n rhoi cyfle i bobl siarad gyda fi’n breifat os oes angen. Eleni, dw i wedi cael fy ethol i’r cyngor blwyddyn yn yr ysgol gan fy nghyd-ddisgyblion, mae hyn yn dangos eu bod nhw’n ymddiried ynof fi i drafod materion ar eu rhan.
