CANDIDATE STATEMENT

My name is Annabelle Betuma and I have recently turned 11 years old. Being part of the Welsh Youth Parliament for me, would mean standing up for the issues that society may feel unable to make a difference in. Society needs to take notice of our environment and education system, now. For the past 3 years I have been a part of my schools eco-committee and spent one year as a member of my schools Senedd. During this time, I have visited Parliament in London; meeting MP Jo Stevens, planted multiple trees, picked litter in local communities and hosted presentations in my school. Education is more than just a place to learn, it is a place to be understood and accepted. That’s why access to education is important to me. Being a young carer for my brother, I want to stand up for the vulnerable members of society and be a voice for the many young carers in Wales. I aim to promote the importance of disability awareness within education. I am excited to be part of change in this generation.

DATGANIAD YMGEISYDD

Annabelle Betuma ydw i a dw i newydd droi’n 11 oed. I fi, bydd bod yn aelod o Senedd Ieuenctid Cymru yn golygu sefyll i fyny dros faterion sy’n anodd i gymdeithas eu newid. Mae angen i gymdeithas sylwi ar yr economi a’r system addysg, nawr. Ers 3 blynedd dw i wedi bod yn rhan o bwyllgor eco fy ysgol ac wedi bod yn aelod o Senedd yr ysgol am flwyddyn hefyd. Dros y cyfnod hwn, dw i wedi ymweld â’r Senedd yn Llundain; cefais gwrdd â Jo Stevens AS, plannu sawl coeden, codi sbwriel mewn cymunedau lleol a chynnal cyflwyniadau yn fy ysgol. Mae addysg yn fwy na rhywle i ddysgu, mae’n rhywle i gael eich deall a’ch derbyn. Dyna pam mae addysg yn bwysig i mi. Gan fy mod i’n gofalu am fy mrawd bach, dw i eisiau sefyll i fyny dros aelodau bregus cymdeithas a bod yn llais i’r llawer o ofalwyr ifanc yng Nghymru. Dw i’n bwriadu hybu pa mor bwysig yw bod yn ymwybodol o anableddau mewn addysg. Dw i’n edrych ymlaen at fod yn rhan o’r newid yn y genhedlaeth hon.
