Hello, I am Katie Baily and I am very interested in becoming a youth parliament member. Becoming a member is important to me as I want to do whatever it takes to make the country of my heart the best it can be. I have consulted with a group of my peers aged 12-14 and they have expressed what they believe need addressing most; this is how I chose my key issues. I believe I am intelligent, determined, mindful, Confident and very good in a debate having been in multiple debate teams in the past. Growing up I was always someone who would get my, and other people’s, voices heard. This is one of the many reasons I think I would be exceptional in the role of a youth parliament member. Upon the young age of 10 me and my mum were told of the passing of my dad, I was unable to attend the funeral due to COVID-19 restrictions. My mum was forced to continue working through her mourning for the NHS as a healthcare assistant at the time. Seeing her struggles made me realise, we need to make a change.
Helo, Katie Baily ydw i ac mae gen i ddiddordeb mawr mewn dod yn aelod o’r Senedd Ieuenctid. Mae dod yn aelod yn bwysig i mi oherwydd dw i eisiau gwneud beth bynnag sydd angen ei wneud i sicrhau bod y wlad y gorau mae’n gallu bod. Dw i wedi siarad gyda fy nghyfoedion rhwng 12-14 oed, ac maen nhw wedi dweud beth sydd angen ei ddatrys; dyma sut dewisais i fy materion allweddol. Dw i’n credu fy mod yn glyfar, yn benderfynol, yn ofalus ac yn hyderus ac yn dda iawn am ddadlau. Dw i wedi bod mewn sawl tîm dadlau yn y gorffennol. Wrth dyfu i fyny, roeddwn i bob amser yn gwneud yn siŵr bod fy llais i a lleisiau eraill yn cael eu clywed. Dyma un rheswm pam dw i’n meddwl y bydden i’n aelod arbennig iawn o’r Senedd Ieuenctid. Pan roeddwn i’n 10 oed, cafodd fy mam a fi wybod bod fy nhad wedi marw. Doeddwn i ddim yn gallu mynd i’r angladd oherwydd cyfyngiadau COVID-19. Roedd Mam yn gorfod dal i weithio drwy ei galar i’r GIG fel cynorthwyydd gofal iechyd bryd hynny. Roedd gweld hi’n ei chael hi’n anodd yn gwneud i mi sylweddoli bod angen newid pethau.
