My name is Taliesin. I was born and bred in Torfaen. I would like to become a member of the Welsh Youth Parliament due to the fact I am passionate about politics, and my local community and have been for some time. My key issues include a better funding system for schools, since church schools like mine, don’t get as much funding, just because it is a church school. Teacher recruitment and retention, the purchase of educational equipment and vital building maintenance are also pressing issues. I am very concerned about alcohol and drug abuse, which is a big problem in Torfaen. I have seen lots of young people drinking alcohol or vaping, which puts me at a sense of unease when I think about it. I also want to work with the Welsh Youth Parliament to develop policies that reduce the impact of poverty on young people, not just in Torfaen, but also across the entirety of Wales, where possible. Mae recriwtio a chadw athrawon, prynu cyfarpar addysgol a gwaith cynnal a chadw adeiladau hanfodol yn faterion dybryd. Mae camddefnyddio alcohol a chyffuriau, sy’n broblem fawr yn Nhorfaen, yn destun pryder mawr i mi. Dw i wedi gweld llawer o bobl ifanc yn yfed alcohol neu’n fepio, sy’n gwneud i mi deimlo’n anesmwyth wrth feddwl amdano. Dw i hefyd eisiau gweithio gyda’r Gwasanaeth Ieuenctid i ddatblygu polisïau sy’n lleihau effaith tlodi ar bobl ifanc yn Nhorfaen. Plîs pleidleisiwch drosof i!
