I am an expat engineer living in Denmark for the last 16 years. I have been working in Denmark, Norway, and Sweden as both an employee and a freelancer. I have a masters degree from DTU in wind energy, but my area of expertise is off-shore engineering, more specifically within energy infrastructure projects.
The nature of my work gives me the opportunity to meet and collaborate with people all over the world. This is why I advocate about the importance of cross cultural exchange, being outgoing and inclusive. This is something I firmly believe our community at IDA needs to become better at. I believe that know-how combined with quality education is the catalyst for creating valuable technology and business that benefit society as a whole.
I am enthusiastic about:
- Energy transition & energy markets
- Communication of technology
- STEM as a motivating education
I am bilingual in English and Greek and have a strong command of Scandinavian languages and Spanish.
Expat professionals in Denmark need to be closer to society and contribute to the public dialogue constructively. I am certain that IDA has an unrealised potential to grow nationally and internationally. Doing so can benefit Danish business and create more career opportunities for all STEM professionals. A stronger sense of community and belonging will empower us to increase resilience against deconstructive policies and contemporary challenges.
“So, let's create exciting opportunities by making it easier to work across cultures!”
As an advocate for a more inclusive and forward-thinking IDA, I am committed to addressing the impact of advancing technologies on our workforce and society. The rise of machine learning and automation presents both opportunities and challenges, and I believe it is crucial to engage in meaningful dialogue to shape our future. From considering whether automation gains should contribute to social security schemes to exploring the potential of a four-day work-week, we must ask bold questions and seek innovative solutions.
Our universities play a critical role in producing graduates who can think critically and adapt to changing demands. Moreover, I am passionate about promoting mental health awareness and advocating for preventative action to reduce the causes of burnout, ensuring everyone can thrive in their professional lives. As we confront repeated attempts to undermine higher education, I stand firm in advocating for investments in STEM to maintain Denmark's global competitiveness. Together, let's support IDA in becoming a more dynamic and internationally engaged organization, fostering opportunities and resilience in the face of today's challenges. Join me in creating a vibrant, inclusive future for our members!
In my bid to represent the interests of our community, I urge you to consider the following commitments and visions that I stand firmly behind:
- Empowerment through SDG: I am dedicated to supporting our list’s goals Sustainability, Diversity, and Globalization to drive positive change.
- Approachable Leadership: I am approachable and hard-working and vow to speak against technological misconceptions and misinformation.
- Technological Advocacy: I believe IDA should be the go-to society for advising on advancements in technology both in a corporate and government level.
- Enhanced International Outreach: My goal is to contribute in improving IDA’s international outreach, fostering broader connections and collaboration.
- Educational and Regulatory Reforms: I am concerned that current interventions in the education system, labor market, and regulation are undermining Denmark's competitiveness and threatening our future welfare.
- Support for Freelancers: I aim to contribute in creating tools that can help freelancers to work across borders more effectively.
- Empowering Younger Generations: We must motive the youth to go into STEM and help them to become creative and critical thinkers.
Join me and SDG in making a tangible difference for a more sustainable, diverse and global future!
